James W. Scott Research Fellowship at Western Washington University, USA

The applications for the James W. Scott Fellowship are now accepted. This aimed to support scholars who will be undertaking research using archival holdings at the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies (CPNWS). The winning candidates will receive funding of $1000. To apply, the completed application form must be received no later than 31 October 2016.

Fellowship Description
Western Washington University’s Center for Pacific Northwest Studies welcomes applications for the James W. Scott Regional Research Fellowships. The fellowship is intended to promote awareness and use of archival collections at WWU and forward scholarly understandings of the Pacific Northwest. The fellowships are awarded in honor of the late Dr. James W. (Jim) Scott, a founder and first Director of the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies.

Award Value
The successful fellow may expect to receive benefit of $1,000.

Research program in any field.

In the United States of America.

Eligibility and Criteria

  • Fellows are expected to be in residence prior to Oct. 31, 2017, and to spend at least one week examining CPNWS holdings in support of their research.
  • Scholars who propose to undertake significant research using archival holdings at the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies (CPNWS).
  • Applications are accepted from individuals in graduate programs (and/or who are new to the field of historical research and writing), as well as individuals who have finished the Ph.D. And/or are published authors.

Applicants’ Nationality
The U.S. students are welcome to apply.

The application packet must be consisting the materials as follow:

  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Research plan outlining on-site use of CPNWS holdings and proposed presentation topic
  • Two letters of recommendation
