Kent University’s Quantitative Social Science PhD Scholarship, UK

The University of Kent is currently offering the Quantitative Social Science PhD Scholarship in the field of sociology, social policy and criminology. Both UK and overseas students are welcome to apply. Those are selected will receive benefit of tuition fee and maintenance stipend. To apply, entries must be received by 31 January 2018.

Scholarship Description
Applications are invited for Quantitative Social Science PhD Scholarship at the University of Kent. Successful candidates will have obtained a 1st or good 2.1 undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, and ordinarily an MA or MSc at Merit or Distinction level.

Award Value
The scholarship covers tuition fees at the postgraduate standard home/EU rate, in addition to an annual maintenance stipend of £14,057 per annum and an additional allowance of £3,000 per year to encourage you to undertake training in and to apply advanced quantitative methods.

Eligibility and Criteria

  • Successful candidates will have obtained a 1st or good 2.1 undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, and ordinarily an MA or MSc at Merit or Distinction level
  • Applications will only be considered if applicants have secured agreement from a member of staff in their area of interest to supervise them. Only one academic may be approached at a time (multiple simultaneous approaches will result in the application being rejected).
  • An IELT score of 7.0 for non-UK students with a minimum of 6.5 in all components, as all PhD scholarship students are expected to have excellent communication skills.
