KOP and MSP International Scholarship in the Netherlands

KOP and MSP International Scholarship is now open. Entries will be accepted until 24 October 2017. The winners will participate in two weeks or longer course in journalism or related fields. The course will take place in the Netherlands.

Scholarship Description
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is offering KOP (formerly known as NFP) and MSP scholarships for the RNTC courses. Scholarships are available for media and communications professionals from a variety of partner countries. This 5-year programme aims to advance the capacity, knowledge and quality of both individuals and institutions of higher and vocational education.

Award Value
The scholarships include a contribution towards the cost of living, the course fees, visa, travel and insurance. If applicable, the scholarship holder is expected to cover the difference between actual costs and the KOP or MSP scholarship amount.

Level and Area of Studies
Non – degree program in the field of Data Journalism, Broadcast Entrepreneur, Investigative Journalism, The Digital Content Creative, Media Campaigns for Development and Social Change, Producing Media to Counter Radicalization, Data Journalism and Investigative Journalism.

Place of Study
The program will be taken in the Netherlands.

Eligibility and Criteria

  1. You are a national and live and work in one of the countries in the Nuffic KOP list, which you can find here;
  2. You must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development. Organisations that are considered to have their own means for staff development are for example: multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft), large national and/or a large commercial organisations, bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid), multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB), international NGOs (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);
  3. You have an Employer’s Statement that complies with the format Nuffic has provided. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the format must be endorsed in the statement;
  4. You have an official and valid passport;
  5. You do not receive more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time;
  6. You have a Government Statement (only if applicable, please check this overview) that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established.
  7. Criteria for an MSP scholarship
  8. Apart from the RNTC course admission requirements, you need to meet the following requirements to be eligible for an MSP scholarship: You are a national of and live and work in one of the following Middle East and North African (MENA) countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia;
  9. The MSP is only open to applicants of Syrian nationality who are residing and working outside of Syria in one of the other selected MENA countries.
  10. You must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development. Organisations that are considered to have their own means for staff development are for example: multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft), large national and/or a large commercial organisations, bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid), multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB), international NGOs (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);

Albania, Armenia, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cuba, Djibouti, DR Congo, Georgia, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Surinam, Thailand and Zimbabwe and MSP Scholarships: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia.

Application Instruction
The application for a KOP (formerly known as NFP) or MSP scholarship needs to be submitted at the Nuffic system called ATLAS. You can apply twice a year during an ‘application window’ to see if you are eligible for a KOP or MSP scholarship. There are many more applications than there are scholarships available.
