Texas History Essay Contest

The Texas History Essay Contest is now open. Graduating high school seniors are invited to apply. The Sons of the Republic of Texas, Inc. (“SRT”), the scholarship sponsor, provides $4,000, $3,000 or $2,000 for the winning students.

Scholarship Description
The Sons of the Republic of Texas is offering the 2016-2017 Texas History Essay Contest for graduate seniors in any high school. History, Government and English students are particularly encouraged to participate in the contest. The purpose Essay Contest is to encourage students to explore the pioneer spirit of Texans on the early-day frontier, their methods of accomplishing their goals under very difficult circumstances, and the results of their efforts that they can see today.

Award Value
The first place, second place, and third place winner will receive $4,000, $3,000 and $2,000 scholarship respectively.

Level and Area of Studies
All candidates must be graduating high school senior studying any field.

Place of Study
In the United States of America.

Eligibility and Criteria

  • Graduating seniors in any high school may enter.
  • History, government, and English students are particularly encouraged to participate.

Applicants’ Nationality
The U.S. citizens are invited to apply.

Application Instruction
To apply, applicant must write an essay 1500-2000words on the topic “Stephen F. Austin, The Father of Texas”.
