Each year, the University of Otago offers one NZ$1,000 of Angus Ross Travel Scholarship in History. Eligible candidates should be PhD students of the University. They must be conducting conducting historically-focused research. The closing date of application is 1 November each year.
Established by the family of Angus Ross in 2010, the Angus Ross Travel Scholarship in History is intended to assist PhD candidates studying history with the costs associated with off-campus field and archival research.
One NZ $1,000 will be given to the winning student.

Eligibility and Criteria
This Angus Ross Travel Scholarship is open to:
- University of Otago PhD students
- conducting historically-focused research (preference will be given to candidates primarily based in the Department of History and Art History)
- conducting off-campus field or archival research in the year of which the scholarship is awarded (the year following)
- Note that this scholarship is not intended to support travel to a conference. Previous recipients are not eligible to apply for the scholarship in subsequent years.
There is no nationality restriction.
