DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship Program

Applications for the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship Program are now being accepted. To be eligible, candidates must be planning full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. degree at an accredited U.S. university. Students in their first year of graduate study in engineering, mathematics, or the physical, computer, or life sciences are eligible to apply for the Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (CSGF).

Scholarship Description
The fellowship is offered through the Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF), a program funded by the Department of Energy’s Office of Science and National Nuclear Security Administration. The purpose of the program is to allow eligible students to focus entirely on academics and research.

Award Value

  • A yearly stipend of $36,000
  • Full tuition and required fees will be paid during the appointment period (at any accredited U.S. university)
  • A $5,000 academic allowance in the first fellowship year and a $1,000 allowance each renewed year (to be used for the purchase of a computer workstation or for research / professional development expenses)
  • The potential to renew the fellowship for up to four years of total support

Eligibility and Criteria
Students must be planning full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. degree at an accredited U.S. university. Students in their first year of graduate study in engineering, mathematics, or the physical, computer, or life sciences are eligible to apply for the Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (CSGF). Senior undergraduates who can meet all the requirements listed in this application may also apply.

Applicants’ Nationality
Applicants must be either U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens.
