The Department of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a position as PhD student on the topic: Recyclable materials in household waste. Recycling of materials in waste and closing of material loops play an increasingly important role in society’s management of resources. In this context, considerable attention is placed on recovery and recycling of waste materials in mixed household waste. Contrary to industrial waste and waste from the service sector, household waste is typically more heterogeneous and consists of more individual materials. While techniques for sorting, recovery and recycling of materials such as paper, metal, glass, and plastic from household waste are relatively well developed, further increase of the overall recycling rates represents a challenge. Recyclable materials today remaining in the mixed residual fraction being send to incineration, may not necessarily be isolated as clean and pure materials.
Each of the selected will receive benefits of salary and appointment terms that are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students.
