Malcolm Tait Music Education Scholarship

The University of Canterbury in New Zealand is accepting applications for the Malcolm Tait Music Education Scholarship Program. This is open to any student undertaking master degree in music fields at the university. The winner may expect to receive benefit of NZD 1,000. Please anticipate the annual deadline in November 15th.

Scholarship Description
This scholarship was instituted in 2010 with funds donated by Dr Malcolm Tait. Malcolm Tait, an alumnus and Adjunct Professor of the University of Canterbury, has had a distinguished career in music education. He served on the music faculties of the University of Hawaii, Case Western-Reserve University, Ohio, and as Dean of the schools of Music at West Chester University, and East Carolina University.His last position was as Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs at Georgia Southwestern State University.

The winner will be granted NZD 1,000.

Eligibility and Requirement
The scholarship shall be awarded to an applicant on the basis of merit and either financial need or the evidence of talent in the subject area. It is an advantage if the studies can be allied to the work and objectives of the Te Puna Puoru National Centre for Research in Music Education (MERC). Each applicant should submit a statement of not more than 1,000 words in support of the application.
