Maynooth University is pleased to invite applications for the John and Pat Hume Doctoral Awards Scheme. This is open to scholars from all nationals. The award will provide financial support for four-year postdoctoral research in any field. A range of benefits will be given to the winning scholars. The application deadline is 1 May 2017.
Doctoral awards are offered funding support for new doctoral students across all departments of the University. Applicants for the awards should first make contact with a Maynooth University Department or Research Institute to discuss their suitability for a PhD programme. Applicants must indicate the name of their proposed supervisor on the application form.
The MU John and Pat Hume Doctoral Awards provide fully-funded award for the awardees. Please see the exact amount at the link below.

Eligibility and Criteria
- Applicants for MU Doctoral fellowships and MU Doctoral scholarships must intend to pursue a PhD degree (doctoral degree by research) at the University, either register in initially for a research master as start of a PhD-track programme or registering directly for a PhD programme.
- Applicants for MU Doctoral studentships must intend to pursue either a doctoral degree by research or a professional doctorate.
- Only full-time students are eligible for MU Doctoral fellowships and MU Doctoral scholarships.
- Both full-time and part-time students are eligible for MU Doctoral studentships.
There is no nationality restriction.

Candidates wishing to be considered for MU John and Pat Hume doctoral awards must first make contact with a Maynooth University department or research institute to discuss their suitability for an eligible postgraduate programme.
