The applications for Mitacs Globalink Research Award are now accepted. Canadian undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply. The applicants must plan to do research in one of a Mitacs partner countries. This research award will provide up to $5,000 for the successful applicants. Applications are accepted anytime.
The Globalink Research Award provides an opportunity for faculty at Canadian universities to strengthen existing international research collaborations and connect with colleagues around the world through the mobility of senior undergraduate and graduate students. Student recipients of the Globalink Research Award will develop research skills, cultural fluency and professional network, becoming part of Canada’s generation of global innovators.
The selected candidates may expect to receive up to $5,000 in funding to cover travel and accommodation costs. Funding will be in the form of a research grant to the home university academic supervisor.
Level and Area of Studies
This award will support undergraduate and graduate student research projects abroad. All disciplines are eligible.
Place of Study
In one of the Mitacs partner countries, they are; Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Turkey or Vietnam. Please note, the project should be conducted at an accredited university in these countries.
Eligibility and Criteria
Before applying this Mitacs Globalink Research award, please ensure that you are qualified candidates based on the criteria as follow:
- Be a Canadian citizen,
- Be students of Canadian university as a senior undergraduate or graduate student
- Demonstrate skills and interest suitable to the project(s) in question
- Have identified a faculty member at their home university
- Have identified a host academic supervisor in a Mitacs partner country
- Meet all necessary travel requirements for the intended destination

Students and their home university academic supervisors submit Globalink Research Award applications directly to Mitacs by email at in submission (at)mitacs.ca. Undergraduate students are asked to identify and contact a faculty member in their department who will supervise the research project and assist the student in developing a research plan in partnership with an academic supervisor at a host institution.
