A number of Astrophysics PhD Positions are now available at the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) on Astrophysics at the Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. Scholars from all nations are welcome to apply. The winning candidates will receive a work contract for maximum three years period. To apply, the application packet must be received no later than 15 November each year.
International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) is largest centers of astrophysical research in the world, covering every subject from planets, stars, and galaxies to cosmology. Access to the world’s largest telescopes and a stimulating scientific environment provide our students with the ideal conditions for their PhD research.
Each of the winners of this program will receive benefit of a work contract of about EUR 1400 per month, (depending on family status) for a maximum period of three years if required.

Eligibility and Criteria
To be eligible, each candidates must meet the criteria as follow:
- Applicants must have a Master in Physics or Astrophysics.
- Applicants holding a Bachelor degree have to apply to the Master of Astrophysics (or Master of Physics) Program at the LMU before they can be admitted to the IMPRS PhD program to obtain a Ph.D. (Dr. rer.nat.) from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University.
- Candidates whose native language is not English or German are required to provide a certificate documenting proficiency in English, for example TOEFL (IbT of at least 94 points) or IELTS (of at least 7 points) or equivalent.
There is no nationality restriction.
