PhD Research Fellowship in Mathematics at the University of Oslo, Norway

The Department of Mathematics of Oslo University is currently accepting applications for a PhD Research Fellowship in Mathematical studies. Eligible candidates should hold master degree in relevant subject. In addition, fellows are expected to be able to communicate in one of Scandinavian Language. The winning fellows will receive salary of NOK 430 500 – 483 700 per year. To apply, entries must be received by January 20, 2016.

Fellowship Description
A position as PhD Research Fellow is available at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Oslo. If the successful candidate has a good command of one Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish), the fellowship will be for a period of 4 years, with 25 % compulsory work (teaching responsibilities at the Department). Otherwise the fellowship will be for a period of 3 years, with no compulsory work. No one can be appointed for more than one fixed-term period at the same institution. Starting date no later than 01.06.2016.

Successful candidates will receive salary with position code 1017, Pay grade: 50 – 57 (NOK 430 500 – 483 700 per year).

Eligibility and Criteria

  • Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and will be expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, with an excellent background in stochastic analysis. The purpose of the fellowship is research training leadingto the successful completion of a PhD degree.
  • The fellowship requires admission to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The application to the PhD programme must be submitted to the department no later than two months after taking up the position.
  • A good command of English is required.
