The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain) is excited to offer a Scholarship for Danish students who want to pursuing doctoral program in the field of synthetic biology tools for cell factory development. To be eligible, he or she must have relevant majors of master degree such as in engineering, biochemistry, biotechnology. A range of interesting benefits will be given to each of the successful applicants. The application deadline is 1 July 2015.
The section for Synthetic Biology Tools for Yeast (SBTY) at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain) is expanding, and currently looking for talented and motivated PhD students to join expert group working on synthetic biology tools. Your key responsibilities will be to develop and validate synthetic biology tools in order to support the DTU Biosustain mission to speed strain i) design, ii) building and iii) screening processes of new cell factories for chemical production. This includes advanced DNA assembly and genome engineering methods and development of genetic circuits and biosensors for high-throughput screening of chemical production or regulatory control of metabolic pathways of interest to DTU Biosustain. The position in SBTY will include an exchange research stay at the Joint BioEnergy Institute in Emeryville, California (US).
Each of the winners of this scholarship will receive salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD students.

The study can be taken at Technical University of Denmark.
Eligibility and Criteria
All candidates are expected to meet all of mandatory requirements as follow:
-Master’s degree in relevant fields.
-Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written
-Systematic and targeted work manners
-Good analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
-Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed within a competitive research field
-A strong motivation to work on biosustainable solutions at the in industry and academia
