SNSF Early Postdoctoral Mobility Fellowship Programmes

A number of SNSF Early Postdoctoral Mobility Fellowships are now available. This program is aimed to support young researchers, who wish to make a research stay abroad in order to enhance their scientific profile, and who subsequently wish to pursue a scientific career in Switzerland. Only the citizens of Switzerland are welcome to apply.

Scholarship Description
SNSF Early Postdoc.Mobility fellowships are intended to support young researchers, who wish to make a research stay abroad in order to enhance their scientific profile, and who subsequently wish to pursue a scientific career in Switzerland. The place of research must be different from the place of education. Applicants must have recently received their doctoral degree from ETH Zurich or intend to do so, within the next nine months. Applications are invited from all disciplines. In principle, the Early Postdoc.Mobility fellowships are awarded for a duration of 18 months or – in justified cases – for a minimum of 12 months.

Award Value
The SNSF does not cover any overhead costs incurred at host institutions abroad, however. The host institution may also ask for funds to cover the research costs. The SNSF can contribute a maximum of CHF 3,000 per year towards research costs if certain requirements are met. Fellowship holders who bring their own financial contribution for covering living costs should generally receive adequate support from their host institution; this support should encompass, among other things, infrastructure as well as any consumables.

Level and Area of Studies
Postdoctoral programme in all disciplines.

Place of Study
The study will be taken outside Switzerland.

Eligibility and Criteria
At the time of the submission deadline, applicants must hold a doctorate from ETH Zurich (obtained no more than two years before the submission deadline), or finalize their doctorate within the next nine months. They must be Swiss nationals or hold a valid Swiss permanent residence, residence or cross-border commuter permit. Candidates who do not have Swiss citizenship must provide evidence of at least three years of activity at a research institution in Switzerland prior to the application. The mobility fellowship finances the researcher’s stay at a host institution abroad. The place of research must be different from the place of education.

Applicants’ Nationality
Only Swiss nationals are welcome to apply.

Submission Deadline
1 September 2020.
