Scholarship Description

The Edward & Isabel Kidson Scholarship is available on annual basis. Up to three awards are given per academic year. Each valued $6,000/year. Those are tenable for maximum three years. The funds for these scholarships are provided by the income from a bequest made to the University of New Zealand in 1959 by Isabel Maria Kidson, to enable New Zealand university graduates who have shown ability in physics or a combination of physics and mathematics to undertake postgraduate study in meteorology or some other branch of science, either in New Zealand or overseas.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants should be graduates of a New Zealand university, be of good character and have shown ability in physics or a combination of physics and mathematics. Preference will be given to (in order):

  • past pupils of Nelson Boys’ College
  • graduates of the University of Canterbury.
