The Throlson American Bison Foundation is glad to offer a scholarship. The award is intended to students pursuing degree, undergraduate or undergraduate, in the area of agriculture. Please note, only the U.S. and Canadian citizens are welcome to apply. Up to $9,000 will be given away for the winners. The application deadline is October 1 each year.
This program has been established to encourage bison related studies and promote leadership among future bison industry professionals. A minimum of $2,000 of the $9,000 amount will be awarded in the memory of Richard Zahringer to a student pursuing a degree in agriculture economics, ag-business, or accounting.

Undergraduate and graduate degree in agriculture field.
Place of Study
In the United States or Canada.
Eligibility and Criteria
- Be an undergraduate with junior or senior standing (completed a minimum of 72 semester hours or 108 quarter hours), or a graduate student, in recognized livestock studies, animal science, veterinary, agriculture, accounting, ag-econ, or a human nutrition program, in the United States or Canada
- Have at least one semester or two quarters remaining in their degree program
- Be enrolled as a full-time student for the fall or spring semester/quarter
